LGW2013 report

An afternoon view after the morning frenzy had dissipated

Well that's it over for another year!

What a great day, great weather and the popular FREE shuttle bus to/from Gatwick saw over 720 visitors pile in to the K2 Leisure Centre at Crawley to see 139 stalls stuffed with everything the aviation enthusiast could ever want.

Despite the double-dip (thought that was an ice-cream?) recession, money changed hands for all sorts of items and most traders went away happy with their sales.

From where I was sitting, Geoff Noble's diecast model stall disappeared behind a wall of buyers! Traders came from Switzerland, France, Germany, Holland, Czech Republic, USA, Brazil, Italy, Eire, Canada and all over the UK. There were also several first-time traders including some from Europe, I hope that they had a good day and will be back again.

Car parking was difficult again but sadly this is an annual problem and something that has no planned fix. There are plenty of spaces but some visitors have to walk from outside parking areas.

The GAS team manned the front desk and donated items sold at the entry desk raised £50 for the Friends of Viscount Stephen Piercey. 2014 will be the 25 th LGW event, don't miss it April 27 th !

Thanks to all the K2 staff and GAS team for their help and to Dave Paskell for supplying/driving the Routemaster bus.

By the way, the best chuckle of the day came when two visitors arrived at my stall to say they had misread the LGW2013 leaflet and drove to my house in Horsham rather than K2 Crawley!!

LGW2014 is booked for April 27th next year.

This will be our 25th year, so don't miss this one!

Booking forms will start to be sent out again later in the year.
